Do Cats Need a Bath?
Bathing is essential to your cat's overall health and well-being ☺
Although cats do a good job of licking themselves to help get rid of dirt, parasites, dead hair, and food leftovers, self-grooming will not clean everything out — nor will it make them smell nicer! Over time, the dirt, bacteria, dander, and oil will build up causing tangles and matted fur. Ouch! Bathing will help clean the discoloration, grease, dirt, and bacteria. The National Cat Groomers Institute of America recommends giving cats a regular bath every 4 to 6 weeks to prevent matting.
Bathing can help reduce shedding and decrease hair indigestion aka coughing up hairballs — yikes! Coughing up hairballs can be a sign of discomfort and lead to potentially serious problems.
Bathing will also make your cat's coat shinier and healthier leaving your furry friend feeling FURRY fresh and happy!
